K&P - North Biking Trails

Trail Description

The K&P Trail - North is a 22 km. (44 km.) multi-purpose trail that follows the abandoned K&P railroad north from Calabogie to Renfrew. At Calabogie the trail crosses the Madawaska River and then winds its way north through rock and forest passing wetlands and lakes before emerging into farmland as it nears Renfrew.

The trail is well marked and being mostly flat makes for an easy ride.

How to get there

From the intersection of Hwy 508 and 511 in Calabogie, travel 1.5 km south on 511 and park at the tourist information centre located on your right immediately after crossing the second bridge.

Information

Directly across the road from the parking lot at the tourist information centre you’ll find the trail begins at the K&P trail bridge. From there it crosses a second bridge over the Madawaska River and continues north crossing both 511 and 508 before entering the woods. The trail then continues north through a forest setting passing by Norway Lake and several other small lakes and wetlands.  Prior to reaching Renfrew the landscape changes from one of forests to farmland.

It is an easy trail to ride and one that you will find both beautiful and very interesting.

After reaching Renfrew you can then follow the trail back to Calabogie. You will find the return trip just as interesting.
